Here’s the gist
The client has worked in the music industry for more than 35 years and has deep connections across it. His idea: put a fingerprint of every track on the blockchain, to reduce piracy. Other teams couldn’t understand the concept well enough to scope it.
We turned his vision into a working MVP in five months, and he was fully satisfied with the result.
The Challenge
Music piracy is a long-running problem. Tracks are copied and re-uploaded constantly, and once a recording has spread it’s hard to prove who created or owns it. His idea was to record a fingerprint of each track on a blockchain, so ownership and origin could be checked against an independent, tamper-resistant record.
Three things had to work at once:
- The concept had to be scoped: it sat between music, technology and rights management, and without clear scope it risked becoming either a vague blockchain pitch or an overbuilt system.
- The MVP had to be useful on its own: fingerprint tracks, record them, and let someone check a track against the record.
- His industry knowledge had to shape the product: what counts as a match, and what a rights record should contain, depended on that experience.
So we built Authentica
We built an MVP that turns every track into a checkable fingerprint.
Every track, fingerprinted
Each track becomes a fingerprint that can be compared against other recordings.
A record you can audit
Fingerprints and ownership information are written to the blockchain as an auditable rights entry.
Register and check
A web interface lets users register tracks and see whether a track matches an existing record.
Reviewed at every stage
Progress was checked against his brief throughout, not just at the end.
Did it work?
A big yes.
100%
client satisfaction (the client’s own assessment at handover).
5 months
from concept to delivered MVP.
Exact
The MVP he envisioned.
He now has a working system that matches his vision, ready for the next stage of development.

What the client says
"Before meeting Sidhartha and SoftEXedge, I didn't think anyone could develop software integrating blockchain into the music industry."
How we got there
From a big idea to a working MVP.
| Step | What we did | What it gave them |
|---|---|---|
| 01Scope the vision | What we did Converted the concept into product requirements and a defined MVP, with his industry knowledge guiding each decision. | What it gave them A clear plan that wasn’t vague or overbuilt. |
| 02Design the fingerprint | What we did Defined how a track is fingerprinted and how that fingerprint is recorded on-chain as an auditable rights entry. | What it gave them A tamper-resistant record to check tracks against. |
| 03Build it in five months | What we did Built the MVP over five months, reviewing progress against his brief at each stage. | What it gave them No surprises at the end. |
| 04Hand it over | What we did Delivered the system as he had envisioned it, ready for the next stage. | What it gave them A working MVP he could put in front of the industry. |
What’s Next
Authentica is ready for its next stage. From here it can be piloted with rights holders, with fingerprint matching and reporting extended.
