Here’s the gist
The client needed AI voice agents to handle calls. Voice AI has hard limits around telephony, call features and language support, and those limits decide whether a product can work at all.
We mapped them before building, set up a voice-agent stack on Retell with calendar and booking tools, and took it live for real calls.
The Challenge
Voice agents promise to handle calls around the clock, but only if they fit the phone system and the languages callers use. Providers differ in what they support, and gaps found after launch are expensive to fix. The client needed a system that worked from its first live call.
Three things had to work at once:
- The phone setup had to be planned in detail: number import (SIP) and platform features vary.
- Languages had to be checked first: support is uneven across voice platforms, so it had to be confirmed before the design was fixed.
- Calls had to turn into appointments: the agent needed to connect to calendar and booking tools reliably.
So we built Medgel
We built voice agents that only promise what the platform can deliver.
Agents that answer
AI voice agents handle inbound and outbound calls within the designed flows.
Connected to your phone line
Numbers come in through SIP import, so calls route through the client’s own telephone setup.
Calls that end in a booking
Agents check availability and book appointments in the connected calendar.
No surprises
Limits were mapped up front, so the agent doesn’t offer what the platform can’t do.
Did it work?
Yes, and it’s live.
Production
AI calling infrastructure live.
Mapped early
Language and telephony gaps identified up front.
Scalable
Voice agents for real call volume.
A working AI calling system, with its limits planned from the start.

How we got there
From “will it work?” to live calls.
| Step | What we did | What it gave them |
|---|---|---|
| 01Check what’s possible | What we did Mapped telephony and language constraints first, including where SIP number import was needed and which languages the platform could support. | What it gave them A design built on facts, not hopes. |
| 02Design the call flows | What we did Designed the call flows around those constraints. | What it gave them An agent that stays inside what the platform can deliver. |
| 03Build it | What we did Set up the voice-agent stack on Retell, with calendar and booking tools connected. | What it gave them Calls that lead straight to appointments. |
| 04Go live | What we did Took the system live for real calls and monitored how it performed. | What it gave them Confidence from the very first call. |
What’s Next
The client now has AI calling in production. From here it can add languages as the platform supports them and extend booking workflows.
